Workout Warm-up 20′ on the road, 5′ build from zone 1-5 and then 2 x 5′ in zone 4-5.

Coaches Remarks:

  • Good: Athlete stayed in zone 1 throughout warm-up.
  • Good: Athlete was able to stay in zone 4- 5 for the hard intervals
  • Note: Build at the beginning of the set was not hard enough (goal is to bring heart rate above subsequent interval intensity
  • Note: Too much break between build and interval 1: Ideally less than 10′

Heart Rate Training

  • Caption Photo 2: MTB workout.  Shown is heart rate.

    Workout Warm-up 20′ at zone 1 intensity then perform 3 x 11′ @ Zone 2 intensity

    Coaches Remarks:

    • Good: Athlete stayed in zone 1 throughout warm-up.
    • Good: Athlete was able to stay mostly in zone 2 for the entire interval length
    • Note: Recovery state was higher after interval 2-3 than 1: Still zone 1
    • Note: Recovery was longer between interval 2-3 than 1-2 but heart rate was higher: Possible indication of fatigue?
