How does testing work?

How do I book a test?

Booking a test is done by email or calling.

How long does the test take?

The lactate test takes about 30 minutes to complete.  With a warm-up, cool-down, and explanation of the results, this can take upwards of 60 minutes.  Please budget for 1.5 hours.

Can I train on the same day as my lactate test?

You should come to the test properly fed, hydrated, and fully rested.

What do I need to bring to the lactate test?

Run – Running wear: sneakers, shorts, and t-shirt

Bike – Your bicycle, bike shorts, jersey, and shoes

Do I need to be in shape to take the test?

The demands of the test are stressful and require you to be in good physical conditioning.  Here is a link to an assessment to see if you should see a doctor before taking this test.

How hard is the test?

The last 2-3 stages of the test feel like a 7-9 perceived exertion on a scale of 1-10.   Due to the relatively short length of time the test, most individuals are fine to do another workout afterwards.

How do you take my blood?

A lancet device pierces the skin creating a small hole for blood to be drawn.  With the advance in diabetic products and technology the amount of pain you feel is very small.

When do I get my results?

Results are given immediately after the test.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

A waiver must be signed prior to participating.

What happens if I do not have a bicycle?

A bike can be provided for the test.

Please send us an email or call if you have any further questions.
